A couple of weeks ago, I sat down with my good friend Lu, and we chatted about being authentically yourself and loving life, no matter the season. I wanted to write this blog to share a glimpse into what we discussed and why I think it's worth discussing.

You guys know I love to encourage others to be unapologetically them, and when Lu wanted to know more about that, I was happy to oblige.

We talked very openly about mental health struggles, and I shared about my time in the mental health hospital. I wanted to take power over that experience and share what it meant to me. It was one of my darkest moments, but I learned SO much from it. I shared my experience in hopes of making someone not feel so alone. It's okay to go to the mental health hospital. It's a big step to get help, and it is such a strong thing to do. It is especially hard if you're a carry it all on your shoulders girl like me, but asking for help has set me free in a lot of ways.

Asking for help is essential. We can not do this whole life thing alone....We need each other. We are human and we seek connection with others. Part of that connection is being there for others and helping them through life.

There are so many ups and downs in life. The carousel never stops turning. Round and round we go.

The least we can do is help one another navigate the curves of the carousel.

Basically, I am trying to say you're not alone. You deserve help from others. You don't have to carry it all by yourself.

OKAYYYY back to a deLUsional view.... sorry I got on a soapbox and couldn't stop myself.

Lu said she named it a deLUsional view because it had her nickname LU in the title, and to bring people together who are a silly kind of delusional, not the bad kind. She wanted to create a space that is safe for people to be a little up in the clouds and let them know they aren't facing all this alone. A space for people to find relatable content and feel seen unapologetically.

"I had two friends pass away in 2023, the first one to overdose and the second one to suicide. When my friend passed away and the other took his life, I wondered how many people reached out for help as many times as needed and didn't receive the mental health support they needed long-term. Or if they didn't have a support group or close-knit group of friends that they could go to be like. hey, I'm feeling this way ." Lu shared with me during our discussion.

Lu hopes her podcast will connect people and grow into her own confidence.

"That's what it's really about...connecting others and showing them that there are people out there who've experienced the same thing," Lu told me as we got further into my journalistic investigation on her podcast.

Lu has more than just A podcast included in her lifelong dream.

"My dream in life is to own a smoke and metaphysical shop and have a farm." Lu said.

"It's important for me to be unapologetically me," Lu said as she explained her dreams and visions about her life to me.

Lu has high hopes for her podcast and where it will take her. We talked about being authentic, struggling with mental health, dating mishaps, and so much more. Please tune into her podcast to see more about our conversation, or at least the part we filmed LOL.

Lastly,

Lu has solid advice for everyone listening and reading now...

"I'm weird as shit. I embrace it."

pssst...you should embrace your weirdness too!!!

As always,

Stay unapologetic. Say what you feel. Stand up for what you believe in.

xoxo,

Unapologetically Rachael
